Be cautious!

FAKE WEBSITES & SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES ON THE RISE

Samsonite is an internationally recognized brand with an excellent reputation and value. As a result, our brand is often the target of fraud attempts, where our brand image is used to defraud our consumers.

The most common form of internet fraud is called phishing. This is a type of cybercrime in which consumers are encouraged to provide sensitive information, such as credit card details. On fake websites or in misleading marketing messages, large discounts or unmissable offers on products are often communicated, which will never be delivered.

Be extra vigilant for websites with a similar design to the official Samsonite websites. Only on our official brand website, www.shop.samsonite.com, can Samsonite guarantee a safe online shopping environment.

Beware of fraudulent Facebook pages that look like the official Samsonite Facebook page.

We are taking action with Meta to remove and block such fraudulent pages, but we advise you to be vigilant where you shop online. Although these fraudulent pages may look like an official brand website and display some of our brands and products, they are not real and are hosted on different web domains or URLs.

How to report a fake Facebook page:

  • Go to the Facebook page and click on the three dots... top right
  • Select “Report Page”
  • Select "Scams and fake pages"
  • Select "Pretends to be another company"
  • Type Samsonite and select our real page (marked with a check mark in a blue circle)

Samsonite regularly takes steps with the competent authorities to remove and block such fraudulent websites. Despite these frequent checks, it is unfortunately impossible to completely deactivate them. We therefore advise you to be vigilant when shopping online.

If you have become a victim of fraudulent internet practices or discover a fake website, we advise you to inform the local authorities immediately.

Tips To Prevent Phishing Attempts

Check the URL of the website. Fraudsters usually imitate the URL of the website by using unnecessary words (e.g. 'discount') or small spelling mistakes. You can also check if there are contact details on the website. If these are not clearly stated, be wary. This could indicate a dubious website. If you are not sure whether you have landed on an official Samsonite website, you can check the full list of official Samsonite websites here.

Always check on social media that the account is verified. You can easily see this by the blue check mark that Samsonite uses for its social media accounts. Also be wary of eye-catching and very cheap prices in social media posts. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Beware of aggressive advertising. If the site is full of ads urging you to buy something quickly before the discount disappears, that should be a red flag. If the pop-ups even ask you to enter login details (such as passwords) or credit card details immediately, you are probably on a phishing site.

What are the payment options on the website? If the only option is a bank transfer, you have reason to be suspicious. Usually, a verified website offers several reliable payment methods, which are often clearly displayed. In most cases, a bank transfer is not one of them.

Be extra vigilant for spelling errors or grammatical inaccuracies. While fake websites are increasingly similar to a brand’s authenticated website, you may notice some inconsistencies in the text. This could mean that the website was created simply and quickly to make a quick profit.

Please note that Samsonite cannot be held responsible for purchases made on fraudulent websites or claims made following an experience with such websites. If you have any questions or concerns regarding suspicious Samsonite websites, please contact us at questions@samsonite.com.
